It was built mainly for the royal women who whenever want could see the outside world from the number of windows even without being seen outside of the main building. It is the wall like structure or can say a big screen with lots of small windows called Jarhokha. The structure was built like the Hindu God Lord Krishna’s crown. Hawa Mahal was built by the Maharaja Sawai Pratap

Hawa Mahal was built by the Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh at 1799 with the leadership of Lal Chand Ustad; he was the main architect of the Hawa Mahal. This is a five storey Rajputana monument that has 953 jharokhas and latticework done due to the ladies who allow seeing the street life and actions with purdah (cover for the face). The cool air comes through the Mahal and maintains the low temperature in scorching summers; it works on the Venturi effect or some say doctor breeze. The lattice work was responsible for this type of cooling. They were the masters of the physics and implement it very well in this structure exterior.

Some Architectural facts

Hawa_Mahal-Rajput-Architecture.jpg
Rajput architecture

It is a pyramid-shaped palace including height of 50 feet and top 3 floors with one room dimension width and both the 1st-2nd floors with patios at the front side. Windows with miniature art are at every porthole and carved grills all over the palace. Finials, domes are at every jharokha and looks like some kind of semi octagonal thing which makes it class apart. Some spaces have the colored glass which while direct contact with sun light gives the amazing color spectrum. The back side of the place has number of chambers having corridors, pillars and doors and ways to go to the top of the building. Interior structure has some simple yet excellent inlaid panels with marbles and number of fountains at the yard centre which all makes it a super Rajput architecture.
